Thank you for such an informative piece. So many places to choose...I currently go to the ODTI - who give great basics and for virtually a free course the materials and follow up are great. Of course you must spend a lot of time in self-guided study, minus the breaks! ;->

What apt timing Camille! I should add that I did a course at the alliance francais. It was five hours a week for 12 weeks and gave me a boost. As a teacher I didn't feel the grammar was well integrated or contextualised into the discussion, or sufficiently inforced by controlled practice, but I have heard other teachers there do things differently to the one I had.
Furthermore, I should tell readers to feel free to place a free classified ad if they wish to find a teacher or 'language partner'. It worked for me!
